The Night of Literature

trailer, 2020

Every year, The Night of Literature presents contemporary literary works from all over Europe performed by well-known actors in unconventional venues. The 14th edition (2020) is subtitled Tradition and Alternative. The twenty books selected intertwine traditional themes with new perspectives and practices, and likewise, the city district where the well-known actors will read from them mixes traditional places in a unique way with those that have been given new life by the changed content. The Night of Literature has also become a tradition in the cultural life of Prague. It has not abandoned its original mission either, but at the same time it is looking for new ways to introduce visitors to contemporary European literature.

Speeddating of Theatre Dramaturgs

NONA; New scene of National Theatre
trailer, 2019

8 x 8 = 64 minutes of explosive conversations about theatre.

The second part of our theatre speeddating, when the personalities of the Czech theatre scene can experience a truly unconventional rendezvous. Under the auspices of the National Theatre, those who, although all in the same field, rarely meet this close can meet. In this case, the classic speed-dating for singles will turn into a meeting in which a somewhat different love will be shared.
This time, dramaturgs, whose work on the dramaturgical plans and the actual productions of individual theatres is often invisible, will meet their intellectual counterparts who are theoretical about theatre. Critics and theatre scholars write about the work of dramaturgs, analyse it from all sides and publish their texts on it. Some critics pride themselves on keeping an objective distance from practitioners; sometimes there may just not be a proper chance to discuss everything in depth. The question for us is whether such a "meeting" must necessarily end confrontationally.
